Do you want to join our vibrant and motivated research team at OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University, and start your research journey in the field of robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent health, smart cities? The following three exciting PhD Fellowships are currently open for application:

I am available as main supervisor and can assit the applicant during the application process.

You must have:

  • Completed a master’s degree (equivalent to 120 credits) with a grade B or better and with a background in smart cities, buildings and structures or other areas relevant for the PhD project;
  • Admission to the PhD program in Engineering Science at OsloMet is a prerequisite. You must apply to the PhD program immediatly after being offered the position;
  • Good written and oral communication abilities in English.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • past scientific work, such as peer reviewed conference and or journal articles;
  • experience from previous research activities and project participation;
  • experience from teaching and/or supervision at the college or university level.

I am looking for applicants who have:

  • Motivation and potential for contribution in the field of research;
  • Personal qualities that, among other things, show the ability to complete tasks;
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with other researchers, be innovative and creative, while at the same time showing the ability to follow rules and regulations;
  • Ability to work systematically;
  • Capacity to work under pressure.

My biography and research background

Filippo Sanfilippo holds a PhD in Engineering Cybernetics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, with a focus on alternative and flexible control approaches for robotic manipulators. His research interests include robotics, wearables, software engineering, human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence and control theory. He is currently appointed as an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Science, University of Agder (UiA), Grimstad, Norway. He is also appointed as Professor II at the Department of Mechanical, Electronic and Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Technology, Art and Design, Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet), Oslo, Norway.

He carries a vast experience in participating to European research programs and various national projects from the Research Council of Norway (RCN). He is an IEEE Senior Member. He is currently the Chair of the IEEE Norway Section. He is also the chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation, Control Systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Chapter. He is also the treasurer of the Norsk Forening for Kunstig Intelligens (NAIS), the Norwegian Association for Artificial Intelligence. He has authored and co-authored several technical papers in various journals and conferences. He is a reviewer for several international conferences and journals.
