I need your vote to serve as a Chair for the IEEE Norway Section

As you may know, the IEEE Norway Section is now approaching for voting. Voting will start from Dec. 1st 2019 and close at Dec 15th 2019. For the health of our section, I really encourage you to take the time to exercise your vote to choose our future.

I served IEEE since many years now and I am an IEEE Senior Member. I am currently the Membership Development Officer for the IEEE Norway Section. Under my service, IEEE Norway Section was awarded as an Outstanding Section for Membership Recruitment and Retention Performance in 2016 and 2018. I am also the chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation, Control Systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Chapter. I am also the treasurer of the Norsk Forening for Kunstig Intelligens (NAIS), the Norwegian Association for Artificial Intelligence. I am a reviewer for several international IEEE conferences and journals.

Today, important innovations are on the horizon in a host of fields, including robotics, artificial intelligence, energy, medicine, transportation and many others. The IEEE Norway Section needs a clear strategy and a leader to tackle these innovations in the most effective manner.

My experience and skills have given me the confidence to stand as a candidate for the IEEE Norway Section Chair position. I sincerely hope that I have your trust and support to vote for me so that I can invest my energies and experience in moving our Section forward to a bright future. We need more members, and we need to provide more value to those members.

I pledge to work to improve IEEE, globally and locally, and to increase value for each member, especially in Norway. I give my availability to serve in order to increase efforts to drive technology within IEEE, improve value to Society members, improve services and opportunities for young professionals within IEEE and create stronger corporate value and better services for practicing engineers.

I have identified the following concreate steps to achieve my objectives:

  • revitalising the current Chapters (e.g. I am already involved in this process);
  • increasing student participation with the creation of new student branches (e.g. I am already working on creating a new one in the Oslo area);
  • increasing member participation by promoting senior member promotions;
  • increasing integration with Norwegian institutions (e.g. I have recently organised joint events with the labor unions);
  • increasing cooperation with politics (e.g. design policies and guidelines for emerging technologies).

Thank you for your support, with which I look forward to serving IEEE Norway Section on the committee.
